The estate’s prized old-vine plot was picked on 23 September in 2022 – well before a localised hailstorm and heavy rains at the end of the month. Despite the early harvest, this boasts a deftly harmonious balance of both fruit and tannin ripeness. It leads with seductive fragrances of mocha, sandalwood, truffle and delicate spring blossoms.  Sweet, dark berries are densely packed between layers of powdery tannins. Expanding generously without burdening the palate, it effortlessly absorbs its 15% alcohol. Quite a feat, and absolutely pristine. Another year in bottle should bring out its more subtle features.
