Arceno’s annata is selected from bigger clusters and berries for greater juice-to-skin ratio. After a four- to five-day cold soak and quick fermentation, the must is pressed immediately to avoid astringency. Ageing is in used barriques. Dark fruit is at the fore: blackberry and black currants are subtly nuanced by balsamic herbs and dusty pebbles. Mouthfilling yet juicy, this cleanses the palate with soft, powdery tannins. A healthy dollop of Merlot knocks off the edges, and warming alcohol rises on the finish.
