2012 was quite a cool, wet year but Giampaolo wanted to open it when I visited the estate in March 2023 as it's one of his favourite vintages for drinking currently. Indeed, it's showing very well at just over 10 years of age, with balsamic black fruits on a tight, very grippy, vertical and surprisingly youthful palate. There's some evolution evident in its savoury, earthy edges, but it retains a sweet, sapid core of red and black fruits along with a sprinkle of spice. Tightly wound and nervous, this wine has years left ahead of it.
