Tal-Massar is a family-owned boutique winery based on the calcareous terraces of the Għarb village in Gozo, with Sicily just visible to the north on a clear day. Port-like and oxidative in style – as the winemaker never topped up the barrel during ageing – it boasts sour red berries, layers of dried rose, dried cherry and caramel. Spiced dried dates, textural with good freshness and a nutty finish. Fantastic with a rich chocolate brownie. Aged in Bulgarian cherry wood for 12 years. Released in half-bottles.
