Aromatic with cherry cola, pomegranate, red liquorice, spice and graphite, there’s a bit of spicy oak too (12 months in 20% new French oak), silky and fresh, almost chalky. This is quite a polished wine with a fine-boned, red-fruited palate, supple dry tannins and a long savoury finish. Very calm and harmonious, it’s not super concentrated but everything is nicely in place. Fruit for this wine is drawn from across four North Canterbury vineyards, and from a very good vintage.
