Chard Farm’s earlier release Pinot Noir always seems to capture the essence of Central Otago in such a thoughtful manner – very drinkable and food-friendly, too. Spicy, earthy, a touch of florals, red plum, cherry and blackberries, knitted together in a pleasingly lithe and restrained palate with nice silky fruit. Delicate structure, very fine, quite light tannins, nice line of acidity, good balance. Savoury, slightly chewy finish. Not bold or especially complex but the better for it.
