Chard Farm makes an array of Pinot Noirs, including four single-vineyard wines. They are characteristically pale and all take quite some time to open up, but are worth the wait. Hailing from the gently sloping Tiger Vineyard in the Lowburn subregion, this has lovely floral and spicy aromatics, with cranberry, strawberry, rose petal, earth, wild thyme and dusty dark cocoa. The palate is red-fruited and mouthfilling with plenty of finesse and a light hand. Firm but silky tannins; this is very fine-grained, the acid is bright and clean, walking a neat line with lots of mouth-filling fruit carried on a nice line of tension. Sits very nicely in the glass, continuing to evolve and unwind.
