The organically farmed north-facing School House Vineyard gets plenty of sunshine, but it is also one of Central Otago’s highest sites, and the cooling influence of its 420m elevation markedly slows down the ripening pace. Layered perfume with lots of red and black fruits, five spice, Campari and a hint of herbs. The juicy, silken palate has good compaction with freshness. Very well made, lots of finesse, quite a taut palate, a hint of liquorice and spicy oak towards the finish, fine sappy tannins. An assured, complex wine.
