A very inviting nose with its complex medley of fruit and stylish oak, accompanied by a flick of reductive flintiness. The silky, savoury palate has a juicy core of peach, ripe yellow apple and bran biscuit, with a touch of nougat and oak spice. Elegant and very nicely put together with a firm acid spine and long, citrussy finish. Alpha Domus’s flagship Chardonnay, the best parcels of Clone 15 from its Bridge Pa vineyard, named for New Zealand aviatrix Jean Batten.
