Deep but not opaque in colour, this Syrah has black fruits on which you can see a classy oak sheen, with fine spices rather than vanilla or toast. It’s clean and fresh, vivid and edgy, structured by bright, ripe acidity. The 16 months in oak, 35% new, is a maximum, and any more would have a drying effect on the wine which this vivid, shapely mouthful deftly avoids, finishing with notes of cedar and spice. It was made with 20% whole-cluster fruit.
