A warm, humid February and most of March encouraged bunch-thinning and leaf-plucking to stave off the risk of disease, but a late spell of warm, dry weather took the pressure off and resulted in clean, ripe grapes. This is an elegant wine with jam, tobacco and savoury characters that suggest a slightly cooler than normal vintage. Supple and attractive, it's more vinous than the fruitier wines on either side of it, and is at or perhaps slightly past its peak.
