From the very pretty Upton Downs Vineyard in the Awatere Valley, this is a fragrant wine with red cherry, wild raspberry and violets, plus a strong herbal edge from 40% whole bunch use. Quite a graceful palate with fine, silky red fruit; its juicy core cut through with graphite-like minerality. Tannins are ripe but slightly chewy. This is a fine-boned style with some nice layers, which will suit fans of a redder-fruited, leaner style. Appellation Marlborough Wine certified.
