2007 was an excellent year for Marlborough wine producers, despite a November frost diminishing the crop size. Intense fruit flavours were apparent early on and this remains true today, as demonstrated by this Pinot Noir. A combination of five clones and six vineyards brings a sense of completeness. It is soft, silken, mellow and focussed on the palate, with flavours which have developed into a lovely melange of sweet plum fruit, savoury mushroom and earthy characters. The only minor gripe is the warming 14% alcohol on the finish.
