A wildly aromatic Chardonnay that surprises in its character and the winemaking used to achieve it, from Saint Clair’s vineyards in Marlborough’s Omaka Valley on clay-based soils. Using a blend of Chardonnay clones (mainly Mendoza and Burgundian Clone 95) it is reductive in style and aged in American oak. There is a smoky harmoniousness of oak and mineral flint that predominates the aromas. The palate is fresh and savoury, with grilled lemon peel, sea salt and smoky grilled pineapple.
