Founded in Marlborough in 1995, Spring Creek Estate originally championed a blend of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, but as consumer preferences changed, so did the wines, and its focus is now on single-varietal wines. The grapes for this wine come from the stony riverbed soils of the renowned Rapaura district in the Wairau Valley, and their freshness is maintained by ageing in stainless steel. Roger Jones: Bright and fresh, with passion-fruit ice cream, tropical spices and guava, and a spiced herbaceous feel. A refreshing, creamy palate; the finish has some spice and citrus acidity. Melanie Brown: Impressively ripe (but not overripe) tropical fruit salad. Playful and rich characters entwine with lively flint. A fuller style with heaps of character. Rebecca Palmer: Bright and clean, with citrus, pear and rose petal. Has something of an Alsatian accent. Down-the-line steeliness; light and precise. A cleansing finish.
