Great value here. A touch of reduction to start but that soon dissipates. Lively red cherry, blackberry, earth and bacon fat on the nose. A lighter-framed palate with bright silky fruit – cherries, red plums and berryfruit – and a light dash of oak spice. Has a nice sapid element, and a little more savoury restraint than many NZ Pinots around this price point. Blackenbrook is a small family winery producing smartly made, good value wines.
