A truly smart, sophisticated blend of Arinto and Verdelho, leveraged by unapologetic but deft use of oak (11 months in 70% new oak and 30% second-year 500-litres oak, French and Hungarian). The nose is deep and lively, marrying almond blossom, linden and peach jam. Waxy nectarine, quince and loquat fill the mid palate, framed by bayleaf, roasted almonds and candied lemon peel. All resting on a bed of frangipane and sprinkled abundantly with almond flakes. Such a moreish, generous wine at once classical and surprising. This is drinking beautifully now but still has such a long life ahead of it. Can't wait to revisit it 10 years from now.
