An unusually dark and rich vintage, courtesy of August rains thinning the grape skins and facilitating raisining. A velvet-smooth wine revealing amplified molasses, coffee, chicory, bitter chocolate and espresso flavours. Ramped-up acidity (9.7g/L) heightens the saltiness and keeps the sweetness (38g/L residual sugar) in check, making for a remarkably balanced palate and a taut, clean finish. A wine of impressive power and structure, if not the detail and grace of its peers. 998 bottles made.
