In a stellar year, this idiosyncratic Dão/Bairrada blend is vigorous and imposing. Tightly coiled, with a deep seam of concentrated, yet-to-be-mined blackcurrant fruit, Baga asserts itself over the ‘blink or you’ll miss it’ Touriga Nacional mid-palate, with its rear-view mirror florals, sour cherry and plum. Long, firm and linear, with a shower of fine, mineral tannins and chalky acidity. Youthfully austere. Partially fermented with whole bunches and foot trodden.
