Spice and smoky flint mark this wine, a bit of a modern masterpiece from Ramos Pinto from the very dry 2019 vintage when early season high temperatures meant everything was off to an early start.  The wine's concentration gives you a sense of the season. Ripe berries and purple florality announce a wine that balances all that concentration with ample elegance. Smoke and clove linger on aromatics. The palate flashes plenty of depth with a refreshing red fruit character. Blood orange, chicory and clove are led down a corridor flanked by dark fruits, ripe blue plum flavours, and bramble berries. There is a smoky graphite minerality that lingers; all braced by a fine structure built to age.
