The second vintage of Vesúvio’s DOC red wine was – even by Douro standards – a hot, dry year, with only 7mm rain in the three months before harvest. You feel this in the concentration of rich, syrupy, stewed plums and liquorice on the nose, but the palate shows remarkable pep and lift: some vibrant red fruit character and good acidity, plus notes of graphite and wet stone.
