The Van Zeller's are one of Portugal's premier winemaking dynasties: they founded Quinta do Noval in 1715, and since then have branched out into fantastic non-fortified wines. This impressively light (11%!) red is spicy and slightly earthy, with hedgerow berries and herbs, although the tannins are a bit rubbery. A good pick for a lunchtime sip, but don't expect miracles. Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barocca and Touriga Nacional make up the blend.
