Viscous and rich, like an Australian Rutherglen Topaque, with a fuller-bodied palate of candied orange, peach tea and barley sugar, which suggests that the grapes were harvested over-ripe. Cassia bark and curry leaf notes bring a mellow, savoury dimension, helping to balance the residual sugar (c. 150g/l), as does the measured acidity. Made around the late 1980s by the Ministry of Agriculture from then young vineyards now cultivated by Villa Oeiras.
