From 30-year-old vines, the wine was barrel fermented then matured in French oak, 50% new 600L for 11 months. It was bottled unfiltered. Inviting aromas of simmering vanilla custard and pears, notes of cardamom and cinnamon. There’s a lift of garden mint against dried fynbos, a curl of pithy lemon. On the palate the fruit is tropical and bright, flambéed pineapple and lemon curd along a current of acidity. Suave and tailored, there’s just a hint of grip on the finish.
