Such wonderful clarity of red, savoury fruit – rhubarb, pomegranate, plum – underpinned by a thread of fynbos and white pepper spice. Hand-harvested grapes from two vineyards, planted in 1966 and 2010, saw 35% whole cluster foot-crushing in concrete tanks, the rest destemmed. Just 20% sees maturation in 2,500-litre foudre, the rest in tank to retain freshness, shaping an elegant expression that's plumped with cherries and a cut of dry, appetising tannins that linger along a line of silky acidity.
