A wine with a real sense of place from vines rooted at a lofty 760m above sea level. Grenache planted in 1977 delivers complex and intense aromas of potpourri and St Joseph’s Lily, roasted fennel seed, black cherry and graphite. The palate is soft and beguiling with a backbone of creamy acid and a blackcurrant core. Svelte tannins shadow the black, tangy fruit, while the finish, though dry, tastes nostalgically of rum-and-raisin, spiced and chocolatey.
