Lisha Nelson's father Alan bought this Paarl estate in 1987, then a rundown property but in a fabulous site, on complex granite-clay soils, cooled by Atlantic breezes. Today Lisha is a winemaking rising star. This old-vine Chenin Blanc is aged on lees for 10 months. Reminiscent of Semillon, it has a grace that not all South African Chenins display, and weighs in at a modest 12.5% alcohol. Firm peach fruit here, but also salted lemons and hints of frangipane. Flinty, smoky and slightly reductive in style, with good acidity and depth. So moreish...
