Elgin Vintners was formed by six growers in the Elgin Valley, who joined forces to make best use of their separate holdings. This Pinot Noir is sourced from three sites - Elgin Orchards, Eikenhof and Wallovale Vineyards. It's aged in French oak barriques, 25% new, on its lees for 10 months. It has a lovely rich black cherry and red fruit aroma, joined by some blackcurrant leaf herbiness. Intense, tangy red fruits with black cherry and blackberry are backed by a juicy acidity, with good length to the finish. There's some savoury mulchiness too, which lends depth to the otherwise fruit-forward display.
