Nico Grobler and his wife Christelle launched La Brune in 2011. Inspired by Burgundy, The Valley range is their 'village wine' showcasing the terroir of cool Elgin. A blend of Chardonnay from four vineyards, vinified separately, it spends 10 months in used French oak. From a wetter-than-usual year, Nico describes the 2023 as 'much more linear and pure'. Impressive depth and persistence on the palate, which has astonishing energy. Silky layers of fresh cut lemon, peaches and cream, saline and mineral notes. Vibrant and elegant.
