This vintage-dated Port-style wine was blended from traditional Portuguese grape varieties grown in Paarl and aged in cask for 25 years before being bottled. The result is unlike anything else. It is manifestly not Port, having an interest all its own. The nose has more petrol and mineral elements than warm, plummy, liquorice-scented fruit, and the texture and feel on the palate is slightly more rustic, with the bones of alcohol, tannin and acidity showing through without the graceful drapery of Douro fruit.
