From a single vineyard interplanted with fynbos on a high, rocky slope ‘in the teeth of the southeaster’. 'Stok by Paaltjie' is the Afrikaans term for the echalas training system, used to mitigate wind damage. There’s a brooding intensity here, scented with printer’s ink, dark flora and sappy red cherries. The palate is muscular with an inherent freshness from a portion of stem inclusion, with fine-grained yet firm tannins that taper neatly to a dry, stony finish.
