Etienne le Riche spent 20 years at Rustenberg in Stellenbosch before he founded Le Riche Wines, which is now run as a family concern with both son Christo and daughter Yvonne involved. Cabernet Sauvignon is the speciality and this Reserve is an instant classic. Matured for 24 months in 73% new-oak barrels, it has a complex nose of cranberry, cassis, violets, some leafiness, vanilla and spice. The palate is full but balanced, with pure fruit, fresh acidity and nicely grippy tannins.
