<p>Cellar master JD Pretorius describes 2008 as a &lsquo;cold and wet vintage&rsquo; but you wouldn&#39;t know it from the striking nose of black and blue fruit here. There&rsquo;s real texture on the palate, where redcurrant jelly, toffee, vanilla and burnt caramel scrap it out for attention. The fruit &ndash; blackcurrants and dried raspberry &ndash; is bright and there&rsquo;s a definite leaning towards the savoury, with tree bark and leather coming through. A complete wine.</p>
