From a low-yielding vineyard dating back to 1963 surrounded by an old farm ‘ring wall’, hence the name. Like a walk through the farm itself: scents of lemon balm, hay, mint, bushels of lavender. The fruit is red, pure and linear, supported by velvety tannins, with a bright, lemony freshness. As with all the winemaking at Kalmoesfontein farm the approach is natural (only sulphur is added).Whole bunches undergo carbonic fermentation in a small, sealed tank. After 20 days of fermentation the wine is transferred to a 600-litre cask for 11 months, then bottled unfiltered and unfined.
