KWV is a giant of South African wine, running the largest single winery in the whole southern hemisphere. But its excellent limited-release Mentor's range by Izele ven Blerk should be on every fine wine lover's radar, as it consistently overdelivers for the price. This Chenin comes in at around £20 and gives you so much bang for your buck. Made from two plots of Swartland fruit, fermented and matured in new and used French oak, it kicks off with Intense aromatics: herbal, floral, citrus and nutty. The textured palate is layered with stone fruit, herbs and freshly sliced lemon for a bright finish. Look out for The Mentors Cab Franc, Cab Sauv and Malbec too.
