Orange

Leaning into its ability to make decidedly delicious orange-style wines, Chris Groenewald sources his Sémillon Gris from Franziska Wickens in the Swartland. Fermentation on the skins for seven days gives a copper-orange hue and slight grip. Grapes were then basket-pressed to one egg and one old barrique for 10 months. Aromatics of orange blossom, sumac and petrichor, before a palate that fills with juicy yellow fruit, redcurrant and jewelled citrus. Pithy, sapid and umami-rich, with vivid energy and a long saline finish.
