Field blend of white heritage varieties planted between 1887 and 1928 at the base of the Piketberg mountains, including Semillon Blanc, Semillon Gris, Palomino, Chenin Blanc and Muscat d’ Alexandrie. The grapes are harvested together, then whole-bunch pressed into old foudres for natural ferment, spending a year on the lees. Summoning beach holiday nostalgia; with the earthy scent of sun-warmed thatch roofs above the cool-stone of white-washed cottages. Wax and burnt honey. Sage, yellow apple and dried apricot; peach laces in on the finely nuanced palate. Bottled unfiltered, there is grip and natural fruit tannin from the tiny berries, which acts as ballast to the evolving complexity of the fruit, supported by an acidity that tastes of electricity and lime.
