From the coastal limits of the northern Swartland; dryland Chenin Blanc planted in 1998 on deep sand, limestone and sandstone. Opening linen-fresh and somewhat idiosyncratic with white nuts, beach-scrub and pear. Whole-bunch pressing carves fruit purity on entry; abundant with pear, apple and citrus. Lees ageing for 17 months has imbued a phenolic, mealy grip on palate, adding to its unusual yet compelling charm. A bite of a sea-salt on the finish completes the picture. Only bottled in magnums in a bid to wholly capture this sandy, sea-scraped site.
