Stellenbosch is meant to be South Africa’s strongest area for Cabernet Sauvignon, but it shouldn't be forgotten that the legendary George Spies, GS 1966 and 1968 were made from Durbanville fruit, as is this. This is the top-end red at Diemersdal, in the Louw family for six generations – and very accomplished it is, too. Matured for 22 months in 100% new French oak, it has pure fruit and excellent tannin structure.
