Within its series of single-site Syrah, this is the most vivacious – coming from a shale vineyard exposed to the strong southeasterly winds. The result is deep concentration and a grippy, textured and very serious Syrah, not unlike counterparts in the Northern Rhône. There is a gravel-like tension to the tannins and a savoury verve pulsating underneath, while black pepper and violet notes provide lift.
