Meaning 'perched on top of a hill', Optenhorst is the fourth oldest block of Chenin in the country - the bush vines here were planted in 1952. Fermented in concrete eggs to retain fruit character, then matured in old French oak, this has a saline and stone fruit character showing great intensity. The wine has a lovely waxy texture which adds to the feeling of depth.
