This wine feels like it's trying to take itself too seriously, with its heavy bottle, overwhelming oak and warm alcohol. Grapes come from 18-year-old vines on a heritage site where Cinsault was previously planted in 1964. Under the toasty wood there's weighty cherry syrup, vanilla and herbal notes, cloaked by drying tannins and a heavy finish. Perhaps needs time?
