Sourced from only three rows of specially selected vines by the Kromme river, the grapes were picked and sorted by hand. The must was fermented with a combination of ambient and cultured yeasts in two new 500L oak barrels (Hungarian and French) and one old 300L French oak barrel. The wine then aged for eight months on lees before being bottled. Greg Sherwood MW: Smoky, sappy, spicy nose with greengage, tangerine, dark chocolate, sour plum, quince and green apple. Crème brûlée opulence and a pithy, drying mineral stony finish. Beverley Blanning MW: Smells rich, like honey. Silky-smooth, with golden fruit, everything in balance and deliciously well judged. It’s totally dry, totally together and very satisfying. Roger Jones: Racy nose of beeswax, acacia honey, tangerine, spiced chocolate biscuit. Fresh, vibrant cool mid-palate gives a lovely refreshing feel. Hints of toffee apples. Beautifully evolved.
