Mas d’En Gil lies to the south of the region, close to the village of Bellmunt, and the Coma Vella vineyard is the oldest in the Vall de la Coma, one of the estate’s five small valleys. The blend brings Garnatxa and the closely related Garnatxa Peluda together with Carinyena (85%), plus much smaller quantities of Cabernet and Syrah grown on reddish llicorella soils. It’s dark in colour, with vivacious plum fruits lending charm to the nose and dramatic brightness and intensity on the palate. It’s light in texture; all the wine’s complexity is engraved into that pure, bracing fruit, underlining the fact that the ‘southern style’ in Priorat can be fresh too.
