Jorge Piernas' eponymous wine hails from of his oldest plots: a 70 to 80-year-old vineyard planted at 830 metres. It balances power, complexity and elegance with ease, with fragrant violets and Earl Grey lifting hovering over the fleshy sloe and blackberry fruit. A vivid outline of bergamot and tomato leaf gives it energy and intrigue. The tannins are pleasantly chalky, underscored by petrichor and wet stone freshness.
