A happy marriage enjoyed by equal splashes of Tempranillo from Abalos and Garnacha from Tudelilla; high altitude vineyards at either end of Rioja. An Atlantic voice finds harmony with the spirit of the Mediterranean. A deep imperious colour and a stern, youthful nose, as you might expect. Then a creamy, cassis personality unfolds slowly, with resin, balsam and peat notes behind that. Good weight and discreet acidity, all conceding an impressive finish: weighty yet still ethereal and deeply satisfying. Give this a year or two to settle down.
