The very model of a single vineyard, made from vines within a walled enclosure – the cerrado or clos – of the medieval castle in the northwest tip of Rioja. First vintage 2001, made only in the best vintages. Winemaker Ana Martín Onzain is developing polished, elegant wines wth a modern style, bursting with dense black fruit moderated by French oak. She is developing a second single-vineyard wine, Tilo (first vintage 2013) from the mountain slopes. A project to watch.
