A super-inviting and immediately appealing 100% Garnacha that is also serious and will age. With milk chocolate notes and jammy strawberry fruit, this has softened with time in large oak and bottle, and offers some dried herbs and juicy red berry fruit on the finish. A really delicious expression of Garnacha that speaks of the region. From 80-year-old Garnacha vines grown on ferrous sandy clay and limestone soils at 670m in Badarán, at the southern edge of Rioja Alta. Fermented with native yeasts in wooden vats, using 40% whole-cluster fruit, then malolactic fermentation in concrete, followed by 15 months' ageing in 2,000L French oak barrels.
