One of the most gloriously deceptive wines in the region. Made in the old-fashioned Spanish style, with long ageing in American oak barriques, from release it showed a hint of rusticity that was criticised at a time when modernity was in vogue. But the wine is becoming greater and greater with time. The rusticity became elegant decadence, and the wine developed an amazing complexity and a silky touch. Now it is one of a kind, a point of reference for those who admire drinking history. Lovely: a flagship for Ribera, made by the hero of Pesquera, Don Alejandro Fernández.
