A single-vineyard wine (in Anguix, Burgos), characterised by its intensity: very dark colour, enticing aromatic nose, black and plummy fruit. On the palate it displays freshness and style, with a barely noticeable oak influence: not surprising, since the wine is designed and made by the team at La Rioja Alta, who are masters of ageing. Clean and round, perhaps flirting with overripeness, in a style that, to me, doesn’t seem to be made for the long run, but for relatively early enjoyment within, say, 15 years of the vintage. A warm and intense pleasure.
